The method of making fishing nets

The knotting method 

It is the traditional method of making fishing nets. The nets are formed by interlocking the warp threads and the weft threads in the weft. The size of the knots is four times the diameter of the net rope, protruding from the surface of the net fabric. This type of net is called a knotted net. When the net is being pulled out, the knots collide with the fish and the ship's side, causing harm to the fish and wearing down the net equipment. Moreover, due to the smooth and elastic nature of the synthetic fibers, the knots are prone to loosen, resulting in uneven mesh sizes and other problems. 

The twisting and folding method 

Two sets of yarns are twisted and spun simultaneously by the machine. At the junction point, they interweave and interlock with each other to form a net. This type of net is called the twisted and spun knotless net. Since the yarns at the knotting points do not undergo any bending, the net fabric is smooth, reducing friction. However, the efficiency of the twisting and spinning machine is low, the preparation process is complex, and the horizontal mesh count is limited, making it suitable only for weaving nets with larger mesh sizes. 

Jacquard weaving method 

The Raisel jacquard loom, which is equipped with 4 to 8 comb teeth, is commonly used to connect the warp yarns into loops to form a net, known as a jacquard knotless net. Due to the high speed of the jacquard loom (600 revolutions per minute), the woven net has a wide width and a high number of vertical meshes (up to over 800 meshes), making it convenient to change specifications and having a production efficiency several times higher than the previous methods. The jacquard knotless net is smooth, wear-resistant, lightweight, structurally stable, has high knot strength, does not deform or become loose after the net fabric is damaged, and can be widely applied in marine fishing, freshwater fishing and breeding, as well as various other special purposes.
